Bad Breath Prevention and Care

The key to preventing bad breath is maintaining a clean mouth and having caries or treating periodontal disease.

Bad Breath Prevention and Care

Daily Brushing

Brush your teeth carefully to maintain a clean mouth. It is also recommended that a toothpaste containing ingredients that prevent bad breath, such as isopropyl methylphenol (IPMP) or sodium lauryl sarcosinate (LSS), be used.
The following are bad breath prevention and care methods that you can perform in addition to these tooth brushing tips.

Tongue Cleaning

This is a prevention method you can perform at home.
After you brush your teeth, brush your tongue with the same toothbrush 2 to 3 times in order to scrape off tongue plaque. By removing tongue plaque, bad breath can be prevented. Keep in mind that the surface of your tongue is very delicate; brush gently so as not to damage your tongue.

Interdental Cleaning Tools or Mouthwash (Dental Rinse)

Remove plaque using an interdental brush or dental floss.
In addition, mouthwash (dental rinse) not only refreshes your mouth but also has a benefit of preventing bad breath. It is also effective to use a dental rinse containing a disinfectant.
