Objective of Introducing the New Product |
 |
■ |
Awareness of periodontal disease*1 prevention via tooth brushing is increasing |
|
Periodontal disease affects the gums*2 of over 80% of adults. Given that completely dislodging grime from the narrow and deep crevices of the periodontal pocket is important for preventing this disease, results of a 2007 Lion survey show that respondents have high expectations regarding the effectiveness of tooth brushing to prevent periodontal disease.
|
| *1 |

Periodontal disease is a general term for inflamed gums and periodontitis |

Based on a 2005 survey conducted by Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare on odontopathy |

Evolving its proprietary technology further, Lion has successfully increased the capability of the Dentor Systema “Sonic Assist” Brush to dislodge plaque from the periodontal pocket, thanks to super-tapered bristles and sonic vibrations |
|
Released to the market in 1993, Dentor Systema Toothbrushes feature super-tapered bristles that are specially processed to produce an extremely narrow tip for each bristle—thanks to Lion’s proprietary technology—making it possible to penetrate deep within the narrow crevices of the periodontal pocket, between the tooth and gums, that other regular (thicker-bristle) toothbrushes are unable to do. These super-tapered bristles completely remove the grime that causes gum disease, something that the vast majority of customers greatly appreciate.
Lion’s Oral Care Research Laboratories have developed technology to improve the efficiency of removing plaque from the periodontal pocket and to increase the effectiveness of tooth surface cleaning. Details are as follows:
| (1) |
|
A new bristle placement pattern design features a change in the type and placement pattern of bristles on the outside and center of the brush head |
| (2) |
|
New technology that delivers sonic vibrations to the tip of each super-tapered bristle |
| (3) |
|
Owing to the compact head/slim neck and lightweight handle design, which is easy to maneuver inside the mouth, Lion has successfully developed a toothbrush that is highly effective in completely removing grime from deep within the periodontal pocket. |
Consequently, Lion is releasing Dentor Systema “Sonic Assist” Brush, a product that features very powerful plaque removal capability and superior usability through its lightweight and low-noise design. |
| |
 |
Used in the same manner as regular toothbrushes,
the Dentor Systema “Sonic Assist” Brush assists brushing and displays superior cleaning
power thanks to the super-tapered bristles and sonic vibrations. |

| (1) |
Thanks to the multi-level, double super-tapered bristles, which take advantage of Lion’s proprietary super-tapered bristle technology, and sonic vibrations, grime is completely dislodged from the periodontal pocket and the surface of teeth, leaving gums feeling very soft and clean |
 |
The super-tapered bristles on the outside of the brush head (0.02mm) are capable of penetrating deep into the periodontal pocket and removing grime, while super-tapered bristles at the center of the brush head (0.06mm) dislodge grime from the surface of teeth. In addition, the sonic vibrations (approximately 9,000 times per minute) assist brushing to completely remove plaque. Tests conducted to measure plaque removal power along the tooth and gum line confirm that the Dentor Systema “Sonic Assist” Brush’s ability to penetrate deep within the periodontal pocket and completely remove grime exceeds that of regular Dentor Systema four-row compact toothbrushes.
Gums are left feeling very soft and clean.
