Lion Launches CHARMY Magica Gentle on Hands + (“Plus”) Antibacterial, a Dishwashing Detergent That Combines Formidable Cleaning Power with Antibacterial Properties while Being Gentle on the Skin

Lion Corporation (Representative Director, President and Executive Officer: Masayuki Takemori) hereby announces that on Wednesday April 15, 2026, it will begin a nationwide launch of CHARMY Magica Gentle on Hands + (“Plus”) Antibacterial, a dishwashing detergent that boasts antibacterial properties^*1 and formidable cleaning power for quick and thorough washing while being gentle on the skin and helping to prevent moisture loss^*2

1. Objective of Introducing the New Product

The CHARMY brand offers such detergent products as Magica for hand washing dishes and Crysta for use with dishwashers, and Lion continues to work to propose habits that make dishwashing easier.
According to a Lion survey,^*3 consumers cited both “ease of removing grease stains” and “gentleness on the hands” as equally important factors when choosing dishwashing detergent. However, 86% of respondents also expressed the view that detergents designed to be gentle on the hands were more likely to have weaker detergency or antibacterial properties, suggesting that consumers have largely given up on finding a detergent that offers both.
To address such concerns, we are launching a new dishwashing detergent, CHARMY Magica Gentle on Hands + (“Plus”) Antibacterial, which delivers the same formidable cleaning power and antibacterial properties as the original Magica lineup while utilizing proprietary technology to help prevent moisture loss from the skin.
Going forward, we will continue to provide consumers with products that help make daily living habits even easier.

(1) Contains moisture-locking ingredients that help prevent moisture loss from the skin after washing, making it gentle on the skin

Contains two types of moisture-locking ingredients for gentle cleansing.

Helps skin retain moisture more effectively than our previous skin-friendly detergent, CHARMY Awa no Chikara (Power of Suds) Hand Premium^*4.
*4 This product does not block all irritants or treat chapped hands.

Test conditions: Foam was created by creating a lather from each detergent using a sponge, applying the lather to the skin, and working it in. The skin was then rinsed under running water, and the initial measurement of skin moisture levels (%) after towel drying was taken as the baseline. Subsequent measurements were taken over time.
