Lion Revamps Acron Laundry Detergent Line with New Soft & Smooth Care and Sweat & Sebum Deep Clean Care Formulations

Lion Corporation (Representative Director, President and Executive Officer: Masayuki Takemori) hereby announces the planned nationwide launch of two new and improved formulations of Acron brand laundry detergent for delicates on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Acron brand products have a reputation for protecting cherished items of clothing from five major types of damage (wrinkling, stretching, loss of shape, shrinking, fading and pilling), and the revamped items, Acron Soft & Smooth Care, designed to deliver an exceptionally soft and smooth finish, and Acron Sweat & Sebum Deep Clean Care, which thoroughly removes sweat, sebum and odors, offer consumers the option to choose the product best suited to addressing their particular laundry concerns while providing them with their desired finish.

1. Objective of Introducing the New Products

Through the Choose one Project, a sustainability initiative aimed at realizing a more sustainable society through eco-friendly everyday laundry habits, Lion strives to raise consumer awareness of environmentally friendly practices that can easily be incorporated into daily life, such as single-rinse washing, which extends clothing lifespans. Keeping clothes looking their best for as long as possible requires choosing a detergent to suit the intended purpose and use—for example, choosing washing methods that preserve the fabric’s texture or thoroughly remove stains.
According to a Lion survey,* while consumers express a desire to thoroughly and gently wash their favorite clothes, some hesitate to use detergents formulated for delicate garments due to concerns about their stain removal efficacy. In particular, there is a common perception that detergents for delicates have inferior cleaning performance. As a result, even those who possess such detergents often wash their cherished items of clothing together with their regular laundry using a conventional laundry detergent, especially during the summer months when sweat and sebum residue are more of a concern. Furthermore, due to increasingly severe heat waves and the effects of winter heating, the frequency with which sweat and sebum stains adhere to clothing is rising year-round, leading to heightening consumer expectations for improvements in the cleaning power of detergents for delicates.
To address these concerns, Lion is launching two new and improved detergents for delicates that allow consumers to choose the option best suited to their laundry concerns and preferred finish: Acron Soft & Smooth Care, which protects cherished items of clothing from damage while leaving them soft and smooth, and Acron Sweat & Sebum Deep Clean Care, which uses a proprietary formula to thoroughly remove sweat and sebum.
The Acron brand will continue to offer care solutions tailored to each consumer’s needs and the way they care for their cherished items of clothing.

The highly penetrative surfactant in the detergents quickly penetrates fabric fibers even under a low water flow, thoroughly removing stains and odors.
