Lion to Launch CHARMY Crysta Pre-Wash Foam Spray, Japan’s First “Spray and Load” Pre-Wash Dishwasher Detergent 

Lion Corporation (Representative Director, President and Executive Officer: Masayuki Takemori) hereby announces the upcoming nationwide launch of a new addition to the CHARMY Crysta line of dishwasher detergent products on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. CHARMY Crysta Pre-Wash Foam Spray dishwasher detergent booster will be Japan’s first^*1 “spray and load” product, enabling users to enjoy a streamlined dishwashing process by eliminating the tedium of the pre-wash phase by replacing scrubbing and rinsing with a simple spray before loading dirty dishes into the dishwasher.
*1 Based on data from a December 2025 Lion survey and the Mintel Global New Products Database, this dishwasher detergent booster is the only product in the Japanese market advertised as requiring no rinsing (when used as a dishwasher pre-wash).

1. Objective of Introducing the New Product

The CHARMY brand offers such products as Magica dishwashing detergent and Crysta for the dishwasher, and we are working to propose habits that make dishwashing easier.
Thanks to steady technological advances, dishwashers have gained popularity in Japan in recent years and in 2024 the ownership rate reached approximately 30%.^*2 Against this backdrop, with demand growing as consumers seek to reduce the effort entailed in washing dishes, 75% of dishwasher users report pre-rinsing their dishes before loading their appliances.^*3 Scrubbing and rinsing—pre-wash steps that require sponges and detergent—are particularly time-consuming, and the survey found that 68% of those who pre-wash dishes before loading find this process burdensome.^*4
To address consumer concerns, we are launching CHARMY Crysta Pre-Wash Foam Spray—a new product designed to streamline the tedious pre-wash process by replacing it with a simple spray that eliminates the need to scrub and rinse dishes before loading them into the dishwasher.
