Lion Corporation conducts forest maintenance activities in Yamanashi Prefecture to protect water resources and raise environmental awareness among employees. In order to further develop these activities, Lion has renewed and signed a forest maintenance agreement, which includes moving to a new activity site, with Yamanashi City, Kyoutou Forest Cooperative and the public interest incorporated foundation OISCA.
■Lion Forest in Yamanashi Forest Maintenance Activities
Lion’s businesses are deeply related to water through the act of washing. As such, we are engaged in various activities to conserve water. We are working to reduce our impact on the aquatic environment by reducing the amount of water used in and wastewater produced by our factories, developing water-saving products and monitoring rivers. In addition, with the aim of preserving forests, which constitute a water source, and fostering environmental awareness, employees engage in forest maintenance activities at the Lion Forest in Yamanashi as volunteers or as part of their training.
Lion Forest in Yamanashi activities have been conducted in a city-owned forest in the Mizuguchi area of Yamanashi City since 2006. To further enhance their effectiveness, we have decided to move these activities to a 2,784 m2 city-owned forest in the Makioka area, where we will jointly conduct forest maintenance activities with the three other parties to the agreement, including Yamanashi City. The new location will better facilitate both forest maintenance activities and environmental education. We will expand our activities so that a wider range of people are able to interact with both nature and each other.
